The SUU Youth Engineering Academy and SUU PREP are on-campus summer day-camps offered through the College of Engineering & Computational Sciences. We are seeking an intern to assist with the overall management of the camp. The position includes lead-up time (May), the camps (June-July), and post-event analysis (August).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of approximately 150 minors, 4 teachers, and 8 teaching assistants at the SUU Youth Engineering Academy and SUU PREP on-campus summer camps.

  • Ensure the safety and appropriate behavior of program participants.

  • Supervise lunch with other members of camp management. Engage with students during lunch/activities.

  • Serve as a mentor to students, encouraging the development of a commitment to educational achievement.

  • Assist with drop off & pick up of students.

  • Attend all staff meetings.

  • Assist with planning, implementation, setting up and taking down of events.

  • Work as a team along with all SUU BZI YEA staff.

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must pass a background check.

  • Commitment to and interest in assisting students in their academic and personal growth.

  • Ability to meet and interact with parents cordially and proficiently.

  • Ability to work with attention to detail, maturity, professional demeanor, tact, diplomacy, and a sense of humor.

  • Ability to use initiative, demonstrate dependability, and use time constructively

  • Prior event assistance or management (preferred).

Skills:

  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
